MEETINGS

Most of our meetings will be held at the public library at 4220 N Josey and Hebron Pky in Carrollton. We will have one meeting a month through October. All meetings held at the library will start at 7:00 PM, although the room is reserved from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM to allow for set up and clean up. Please see details for any meeting not listed held at the library.

 

January 23 – Crappie Anglers of Texas held it’s opening meeting “CAT TexasMotorcars Extravaganza Kickoff” at TexasMotorcars’ beautiful facilities and CAT sponsor in Addison. Wally Marshall, “Mr. Crappie”, was the club’s guest seminar speaker. Mr. Crappie presented insights into tournament fishing and regaled the audience with fishing tales. Big Al of Big Al’s Texas Rub smoked up some brisket and many club sponsors were represented and shared their latest products and services. Over 100 new and renewed members were registered at the kickoff.


February 9 - Carrollton Library, insight and explanation of a board member, discussion and vote on sportsman rule, Lake Lavon tournament review.

 

March 9 - Carrollton Library, Jay Don Reeve, owner/operator of Finny Tribe, and tackle aficionado, presents an interactive seminar on fishing preparation covering tackle, boating and more.

 

April 6 - Carrollton Library, defending Texas State Crappie Championship champions, Brian Carter (Duck Jerky) and partner Wes Belcher (Bottom Bouncer) will cover crappie techniques covering spawn and post-spawn techniques/tackle; and a review of the upcoming tournament on Lake Texoma.

 

April 27 - TexasMotorcars, Paul O'Bier, CAT two-time angler of the year, shares his 25 years of crappie fishing with members; members will be given Belton Lake tournament information and fishing tips; Wes Belcher will provide information on the upcoming special event fish fry and tournament at Lake Lewisville. This meeting replaced the May meeting.

 

June 8 — Carrollton Library, Fred Dooly, current Crappie Masters Mississippi State Champion and CAT member will tell of his experience and prepare Lake O' the Pines (June 19) tournament participants the where and how to fish the lake.

 

July 6 — Carrollton Library, Guy Skinner, “The Crappie Guy” will present an in-depth seminar on all things brush piles.

 

August 5 — Carrollton Library, Stephen Johnston, Humminbird pro staff, will present a thorough hands-on seminar on sonar. Please note this meeting is on a Thursday. Important board election information will be provided.

 

September 7 — Carrollton Library, board election business, seminar TBA, Texas State Crappie Championship discussion.

October 12 — Carrollton Library, board election business, seminar TBA

November 8 — Carrollton Library, board election business, seminar TBA

BOARD MEETINGS
 
If members would like for the Board to consider adding items to the meeting agenda, a form is available here on the CAT website (click here) for you to fill out and submit to the Board. All members are encouraged to discuss CAT issues with any Board member at any time, but in order to have something considered formally by the Board, you must fill out and submit the form on the CAT website.
 
We attempt to schedule the club meetings for the Monday or Tuesday night prior to most tournaments.

Some of the topics that will be covered at upcoming meetings include: Bridge fishing, Basic jig fishing, Trolling, Brush pile/condo building and fishing, dock shooting, Marina slip baiting and fishing, timber fishing, jig tying, electronics & GPS use, bank fishing, creek fishing, jig & bobber fishing and much more.
