This seminar meeting was held on Tuesday, July 14, 2008 at the Carrollton Public Library, Rm #2, at 4220 N Josey @ Hebron Pky.

Another great meeting! Sheldon gave a quick financial update as well as reintroduced himself to the club since he's been gone so long...

George then kicked off a roundtable discussion where many topics were reviewed.

  • Jerry and Paul gave more details on how they fished the Ray Roberts tourney.
  • Gary and George chimed in with how they fished the tourney including a description of a "welding rod" method. Several club members added details to the method.
  • George discussed his recent fishing trip with Ernest on Lewisville. Bait size and color does matter.
  • George discussed a recent trip to Ray Roberts with Gary. Bait size and color does matter.
  • Paul and George both stressed with examples from Missouri and Arkansas trips that color does matter.
  • The conclusion of the above discussions was that there are a lot of bait fish right now that is competing with our fishing. Also, the crappie are being picky. Size and color does matter!
  • The Richland Chambers Tourney was discussed. The weighin location, start time, and ramp details are located here. A couple of hazards were pointed out. In the Richland arm run closer to the south bank after getting past the sand bar and patch of trees near the main lake opening. In the Chambers arm run closer to the east bank. There are many, many stumps just below the water surface especially in the Chambers arm.
  • Paul reviewed keeping fish alive again. Here are a few things that were mentioned. Do not pump new water into the live well after filling it early in the morning. If your boat does not recirculate (internally, not from outside), you can put a "T" in the outlet pipe of the livewell with a manual valve to allow the livewell to recirculate. Ask for details at the next meeting. I'm sure folks that have done this would be happy to share some tips. Also, add ice to the livewell to keep the water cool.
  • Jerry provided information for how to keep fish alive that were caught more than 20' deep.
  • Dock shooting was reviewed. George mentioned a couple of things that should help. Solid body jigs. Assassins because they skip. Super glue to hold them on. (Improve your aim by breaking the tip of your rod off!! DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!)
  • George shared some pointers for bridge fishing. Mainly on how to establish a pattern and how to fish the cross members.

The meeting concluded with the monthly meeting raffle to which someone won a guide trip with Paul O'Bier.
